You can read without optional memory, or choose to save your place in articles on this device. Optional reading storage remains off until you deliberately select it.

Storage inventory
Reading-feature storage
- afn_privacy_v1 · first-party cookie
- Records preference version, reading choice and timestamp after a deliberate saved choice. Maximum 180 days, scoped to this website path. A later choice replaces it; browser site-data controls can remove it.
- afn_reading_v1 · localStorage
- Optional article paths, reading positions and timestamps. Initialized only after reading-position consent, including an empty record on non-article pages. Entries at least 180 days old are ignored when read. Expired entries are removed on the next saved reading-position write, where browser access permits; each such write saves at most 30 records. Reading alone does not rewrite localStorage. Rejecting or disabling the option attempts to remove the record. Unused localStorage may remain until a later saved reading-position write, rejection or removal through browser controls.
- Article-topic filter
- Current-page selection only. The directory filter does not save the choice in browser storage or send it to a service.
Other website technologies
The article directory and reading controls do not include analytics, advertising tags or third-party media players. Other WordPress plugins, embedded content and hosting services can operate separately. Reading-preference controls govern only the reading feature; they do not control those services or establish a complete inventory of the website.
WordPress sign-in and administration may use separate authentication cookies for signed-in users. These reading controls do not remove authentication cookies, email, server logs or records at linked websites. This list describes reading-feature storage and any additional details the publisher has supplied.
Equal choices
The first-visit notice offers Accept optional, Reject optional and Settings with equal visual treatment. Reopen settings from the footer on any page. Rejecting or withdrawing attempts to remove this publication’s optional reading record, not data created by unrelated websites or software.
When storage is unavailable
If the browser cannot save the preference, optional reading memory stays off. Articles, topic filtering and navigation remain usable. Browser cleanup or private browsing may remove a choice and cause the notice to reappear. With JavaScript off, this website does not use its optional reading-position storage; previously saved data can be removed with browser site-data controls.
What these settings do not control
These choices manage the reading feature identified above. They do not remove server logs, email correspondence, signed-in WordPress administration cookies or information held at official websites you visit. The Privacy Policy explains those separate contexts.
